These reviews work like a grade scale, with individual elements being
graded A, B, C, D, F, or low F (with the reasons why I gave them that grade)
and then averaged together to get an overall grade for the movie (for the
sake of averaging the grade, an F will be averaged as 50, a low F will be
averaged as 30). The areas that will be graded are:
- Compassion - Are we supposed to feel sympathy for the character/like
them or are we supposed to dislike them/feel disgusted with them because they're
- Realism - How realistically is the fat character portrayed? Is
a fat suit used? Is it necessary? Are the clothing/mannerisms/habits realistic?
- Fat Jokes/Stereotypes - How many? How drastic? How detrimental
to the public image of fat people in general?
- Other Elements - That stuff that's usually reviewed: plot, characters,
etc, etc, etc.
